They will only remain on the ground when you quit if the item “belongs” to all Party members. Note: Your items will disappear if dropped on the ground and you quit the game. (He could have at least gotten 15 Forgotten Souls from salvaging it). So, he just threw that Primal item away by dropping it on the ground and then quitting. That means: He could not have given it to you anyway. Which is just one more indication that he already had the item and did not find it in your game session. The item should not have disappeared when he quit the game, unless the item was already Bound to his Account (Account Bound). He must have gotten it with a different Character and had it in his Stash. If he could not trade it to you or you could not pick it up, then he did not get it in your game session. He dropped the item for me to pick up and then he dropped out and the item disappeared. Some rewards are global, such as Portrait Frames, Wings, etc. Obviously, this is not possible because the rewards have already been claimed by my Demon Hunter. It says she should have the Jade Set in her collection. But, I can load my Level 1 Witch Doctor mule, open the Journey Window and select Chapter IV. My Season 17 Hardcore Demon Hunter has completed the Guardian Chapter and received all her rewards, including her free Shadow’s Set. Hopefully, the image below will explain much better. Especially now that we can not only look back, but forward as well. I believe some players are opening their Journey Window and looking at the different Chapters. If you could better describe your issue maybe we can help. Further, what do you mean by it says and where does it say it? I think there is a communication gap here. Maybe you are thinking of transmogs being in your collection or maybe you mean something else by collection. When i viewed my progress it says its own set armor is in my collection but i dont see it?
